At the end of the Beatitudes, Jesus tells those who are insulted or persecuted for their faith to “rejoice and be glad, for your reward is great in heaven.” In Psalm 118, the psalmist offers thanksgiving to God for faithfulness and mercy and says, “This is the day which the Lord has made; let us rejoice in it and be glad.”

Synod participants will soon meet again to discuss all that has been learned in the past year. Bishops, priests, nuns, and lay persons from around the world will again gather in Rome to pray, listen, and reflect on where the Holy Spirit is leading us as a community in this new era.
